Hatched!

I forgot that I completed work on my hatching project and it hatched into a hatchling. A befuddled arrangement of scales and claws.

www.jedistirfry.co.uk

I haven’t fixed it for IE6, but then if you are using a legacy browser you deserve everything you get. Srsly.

Madness gone.. well… mad

Neon: THE DAMNED WHEELS CAME OFF
Neon: I don’t suppose you have a spanner
Neon: Or a number 7 socket wrench
Neon: I tell you
Neon: That’s the last time I buy cheap Golf shoes
Neon: Have to go back to using fireworks
Wilko: wtf are you talking about?
Wilko: are you building something?
Neon: Yes
Neon: The mightiest Iguana ever to grace these isles
Wilko: wow
Neon: But I need more glue
Wilko: can I see it when its done?
Neon: The feathers keep peeling off, because there isn’t enough glue
Neon: It will never fly without feathers
Neon: I did water proof it though
Neon: I based the design on a carrier bag you see
Wilko: good thinking
Neon: So the inherant plasticy waterproofing is there
Wilko: use chewing gum if you’ve run out of glue
Neon: Hm, dunno about gum, as then you get into arguments over what flavour has better sealing properties
Neon: See, I always thought Juicy Fruit
Neon: But then, with the new Trident stuff, well, it competes well with those silly blue squares
Neon: Although they do have an adgesive potential ratio of 7.1
Neon: Which is good when you consider it’s sugar
Wilko: juicy fruit is all flavour and no stick
Neon: True, their lack of stick is a dissapointment
Neon: But you are only going to chew on it anyway
Wilko: not if its holding feathers on
Neon: No no, you’ve got it all inside out
Neon: Pull that
Neon: and press the green button
Neon: Pump the bellows and then make sure to cut that laces at the right time
Neon: Or we’ll never get airbourne
Wilko: right, sorry, my mistake
Neon: I don’t suppose you have a porridge hat?
Neon: Ah silly question really
Neon: It’s not porridge season is it
Neon: Tch
Neon: Typical
Wilko: no it isnt
Neon: Hm, come on, think!
Neon: We need something hat worthy with an adhesive potential ratio over 7
Wilko: hmmm
Wilko: honey hat
Wilko: toffee
Neon: Lol
Neon: You’re new to this aren’t you
Neon: See, you didnt’ consider Bee’s
Wilko: what about the toffee?
Neon: They’d take your head clean off if you were wearing a honey hat in winter
Neon: What about it
Neon: Look, the toffee started it
Neon: I wasn’t doing anything and then all of a sudden bam
Neon: He wanders over and starts making a fuss
Neon: “Fuss” I said
Neon: “Just stop” said the Toffee
Neon: I wouldn’t have any of it, so I ate his legs
Wilko: ok, wine gums
Wilko: wahts wrogn with that?
Neon: With wine gums
Neon: I can’t stand all the whining
Wilko: its the season for ready brek
Neon: BA DUM TISH
Wilko: *sigh*
Neon: You did bring aplha blend flying googles?
Neon: I have a goldfish in mine
Wilko: no I didnt
***Neon proffers up a complex looking pair of goggles involing leather straps, glass and clockwork
Neon: Mind the fish though
Neon: Right then
Wilko: I can picture it now
Neon: Let’s get this Iguana airbourne
Neon: Man the laces!
Neon: Batten the exhaust!
Neon: Pump!
Neon: (you are pumping?
Wilko: im pumping hard
Neon: Great
Wilko: there are some funny sounds
***Neon pushes the green button
Wilko: and somethign looks like its goign to fall off
Neon: *silence*
Neon: What?
Neon: What fell off?
Wilko: the tension is incredable
Neon: Don’t cut the laces
Neon: Or we’ll be catapulted into .. well.. just into a bad place
Neon: Don’t ask
Wilko: a bad place?
Neon: The time dimension spiral isn’t somewhere to mess about in
Wilko: waht kind of bad?
Neon: Places .. well.. look, they don’t wear hats
Neon: and then it’s just get worse from there
Neon: A place without hats
Neon: *shudder*
Neon: Did you find that part?
Neon: See this is why you need the APR to be above 7
Neon: Oh well
Wilko: no hats at all?
Wilko: what if we took one?
Neon: Have to try another launch tomorrow
Wilko: yeah, I think we need to give it a break
Neon: Lol, ever the optimist
Neon: Hats are outlawed in the time dimension spiral
Neon: Man, lol, imagine turning up there with a legless toffee hat
Neon: The pixie nose weavers would lock you up for sure
Neon: Right, I need to do some running repairs on the Flying Iguana Boat or FIB
Neon: Catch you in a bit
Wilko: bye

A new project hatches

I have been having some crazy idea’s about creating a new website. First it was an application to use the Last.fm API, which I will admit that I have not lost interest in, but did find out that it would be near impossible to do with the Last.fm api. Apparently Last.fm are genre independant. Which is fine as genre is a touchy subject for most music-o-philes (?) as everyone tags things differently. What’s electronica to me is downtempo to the next listener.

Project 2 (beta) of course, or should that be Projct?, Projektr?, anyhow, was a few idea’s on processing someone’s activity online and syndicating it via RSS to a site. I have a distinct feeling that I’ve read or seen an article about (visited the site now) Friends Feed or similar, which is to do with aggregating online activity. I plumped for Yahoo! Pipes actually, seeing as I have an account with them from way back. So off I bustled to grab the 960gs PSD and get cracking. This was after about 5 ideas on various A4 pieces of paper and quite a number of pages of my trusty Moleskine. You really can’t beat paper prototyping for getting an idea out of your head and into daylight. I do find writing things down, even in scribbly mess always makes room for that next idea, no pressing buttons, no trying to make that one box shape in word 1px smaller so that it fits nicely and all the various niggly fiddly, grr, bits in between.

I’ve always been fond of Terry Pratchetts writing on ideas,

Particles of raw inspiration sleet through the universe all the time. Every once in a while one of them hits a receptive mind, which then invents DNA or the flute sonata form or a way to make lightbulbs wear out in half the time. But most of them miss. Most people go through their lives without being hit by even one. Some people are even more unfortunate. They get them *all*.

(Ah for the day when computers will understand me and not the other way around, then we shall see! Give me wetware interface!)

So I have very nearly put the finishing touches on the design. Well, version 1 revision 1. One day, one revision. Now it’s time to put it aside for a day and come back to it on Friday morning for a fresh glimpse. I will be putting the site up on one of my many and varied domain names, I have one in mind, but I don’t think it will be www.organogasmagram.co.uk, yes really.

Music, Games and Headaches

Bah, had a 48 hours headache and it’s still going strong. Pain in the .. well.. head I suppose.

I really figured I should update my site with a post so that it looks like I actually update it, which I suppose is a hollow ploy considering it’s all date tagged, hmm.

So that’s headache, ah yes, Music. TotallyRadio.com how I love thee. Although I did ask them about RSS notifications form shows and they have ignored me thus far, which is a bit of a shame really. Even though, this site is the Monday site. Great mixes, sets and radio shows from a variety of my favourite labels. Be sure to check out the Tru Thoughts, Solid Steel and The Dugout shows as they are pretty awesome.

Listening to these is a great heads up on the happenings of things, such as the new Roots Manuva album ‘Slime & Reason’ and the new Mr Scruff album ‘Ninjatuner’ ‘Ninja Tuna’, well worth checking out. You can even buy the 320kb/s DRM FREE albums from play.com for under a tenner!

Games eh? My god the runup to christmas is looking tasty; stuff like,
Valkyria Chronicles
Midnight Club: Los Angeles
The Last Remenant
Mirror’s Edge
Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm
Final Fantasy 13
Fallout 3
Diablo 3

To name just a few of the titles. You know it’s bad when your pre-order list hits £275! Where’s that raise I ordered?

Large chunks of time have now been recinded from Eve and meritoriously passed back to fund a revivial of Guild Wars! Woot. Man I’ve missed this game. Jogged through the end of Eye of the North with henchies and heroes, even solo’ed the Great Destroyer! Go go gadget Koss with a Stone Tanker build (Hmm, I can’t find the actual build online, but it’s like 3 axe attacks, then Obsidian Armor, Stone Armor, Dolyak Signet, Watch Yourself), similar to this stone tank.)

Learning RoR! Rails on Ruby, or Ruby on Rails

So I’ve decided to learn a new language, having got stuck into some CakePHP and all my friends telling me that I should really tackle it’s older more mature sibling, Ruby on Rails.

Found a superb tutorial site in, rubylearning.com which has all the basics for learning Ruby on it. After that’s all tackled it will be onto learning the Rails framework and getting to grips with transferring my CakePHP MVC knowledge over to the Rails structure.

Also started using Aptana again now that they have finally got a solid build out. So I have switched from what was Eclipse with the Aptana plugin to using the pure Aptana app now with the PHP and RadRails perspectives loaded and so far it’s working great. A few niggles like basically not knowing too much about really using Aptana to develop quickly. The fact it interfaces so closely with the RoR script/generate though is great!

If like me you are a fan of a darker background, there is Green Chaud theme for Aptana too which makes coding much easier, as I was moving from the old Textmate Vibrant Ink theme in Notepad++ (scroll to the bottom) over to Aptana.

Strike Noir nears finish line!

SP_A0060.jpg

Very very nearly there now, just a few more weapons to do, some tidying bits, then it’s onto transfers and decals. Can’t say it will be as good as this one mind, but I like to think it’ll be close. http://fichtenfoo.com/gallery/FF-StrikeNoir, check out the review, http://www.dalong.net/review/mg/m100/m100_i.htm

The next project is a Hi-Nu MG kit which I managed to snag from HobbyLink Japan, for a decent price. Considering how hard it was to get hold of the kit, I’m pretty pleased.

TotallyRadio totally rocks!

Found a link to The Dugout on there, from Zebra Traffic records website. It’s a 2 hour radio show fully on the web for free! Genius! There are all sorts of things on there, but The Dugout and also the Solid Steel are well worth checking out. Which reminded me to update my Solid Steel podcast, I had missed 3! 70,71 and 72 are now out.

“This is madness!” “No, this is the United Kingdom!”

..well I know who I’d like to kick into a hole.

Honestly, who are these idiots.

So now we have to chose between lighting and heating, but not both?

Well then PS3?

Looks like I’ll be plumping for a PS3 instead of an Xbox360 along with perhaps a new PSP Slim to replace my old 2nd hand PSP phat! Need moar holidayz :(

Summertime!

Well I finally managed to complete the build on my Strike Freedom Full Burst and there are pics in the Gundam gallery on Picasa. I also succumbed to weakness and ordered a Strike Noir MG kit to work on next!
Strike Noir

I am hopefully going to get a few extra bits to make building this kit a little easier. I have to admit that the snips I got from Maplins were totally awesome. Now to refine my sanding technique and perhaps buy a proper set of Gundam markers for touch ups.

Also started playing Final Fantasy Crisis Core on my PSP and it’s totally amazing! Graphically and in playability it’s easily one of the best games out for the system to date.

A weeks holiday in Cornwall beckons at the end of a nightmare week!

The thought of buying an Xbox 360 creeps back into the light from the elusive shadows, especially now that there is talk of a new 360 with a Blu-Ray drive.
